"20/4/42: Operation CALENDAR. In an attempt to reinforce the beleaguered island of Malta, 47 Spitfires flew from the carrier USS Wasp. 46 arrived safely, but intense Axis air attacks over the next four days left only 6 serviceable. A follow up operation in May (BOWERY) proved far more successful."
