"For the first time in 6 years a beer festival is being in Hoylake though it wasn't the return of the original fantastic festival supporting the community centre, though it nearly did return in 2020 but of course COVID put pay to that.
It was another charity beer festival run by the The Ship and Mitre pub, who run the very successful Wirral Beer Festival twice a year in Port Sunlight, with all funds going to the excellent Paul Lavelle foundation.in the Hoylake Rugby club.
At first I was was unsure of going but then looking just four pound, you get entry and a festival glass, though strangely no beer lisr was available, for a quiet Thursday night session and for charity it was a no-brainer.
One drawback as real ale drinker only 20 ales available and one the night only one dark, though I was told some casks had exploded, there was a couple of amber ales aswell. Ales were priced at £2 for a half and £4 for a pint.
My pick of the night that ales I had was the Hereford Bitter and I did have a half of the dark which was a cherry mild by 4T, I dont normally drink cherry ales but as there was only one dark, I might aswell, it was ok better than cherry porters like the Titanic that ive tasted.
There's also draught(keg) beers, ciders, bottle beers available cant tell you what they are as I was only interested in Cask, also said to be gin, prosecco and a gin bar. They also had hot foods, pizzas, hotdogs and indian food I noticed.
Overall I very much enjoyed myself and would recommed going tonight if there are any tickets left or to tomorrows finale and I do hope it returns in 2025.
